about

Quandaries and Panaceas is Lost Shadow's most political album to date, featuring an aggressive attack on the ignorance towards today’s and tomorrow’s environmental threats shown by governments, companies and many people. Quandaries and Panaceas is angry, thoughtful, beautiful and filled with hope, all at the same time. There is two versions of the album, a short (about an hour), and a long (almost two hours of music). The concept for writing the songs was to let them expand for as long as there were ideas for them, and then make shorter, more pop-friendly versions, resulting in a longer and a shorter version.

The songs on this album are written by Johan Bengtsson, except for Wheels, which is written by Anders Bengtsson. All songs are arranged, recorded and mixed by Johan Bengtsson at Phonocratic Records. Most of the album is performed by Johan Bengtsson, but with guitar solos by Anders Bengtsson on One man a car and The blind watchmaker. The problem with democracy contains samples from The Philharmonia Orchestra Sound Exchange (www.philharmonia.co.uk/thesoundexchange/). The whole thing was mastered at Phonocratic Mastering by Johan Bengtsson, and the album has been produced by Lost Shadow. The cover features photos by Johan Bengtsson, as well as a photo of a pool in Prypiat, the abandoned city close to the destroyed Tsjernobyl nuclear power plant. This image is taken from the public domain. The cover was designed by Johan Bengtsson.
